The Loki Foundation has scaled through all the requirement and processes involved in registering a non-profit organization in Australia. The Australian authorities gave a node following the Foundation’s registration with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission (ACNC).

Loki’s new status as a registered charity comes with its own responsibilities to the Australian community. Simon Harmon, the Foundation’s Director and Project Lead commenting in an official release, noted that:

Our not-for-profit status with the ACNC carries significant responsibility. It calls for Loki to adhere to a high standard of transparency and governance on the project, ensuring that we continue to support our growing community of developers to research and build new technologies to enhance digital privacy in Australia and beyond.

The Foundation has also gained an enviable status of becoming Australia’s first not-for-profit software organization. As part of the team’s responsibility, they will continue to support developers and community members towards pushing the frontiers of digital privacy within Australia and the world at large.
