Muslims make up over 20% of the world’s population, and by Islamic faith are required to only consume food certified as Halal (permissible). These foods must adhere to strict methods of preparation in order to qualify as Halal. Going by the number of sharp practices going on in several industries, it is literally impossible for consumers to verify the authenticity or methods of preparation for the food they consume. They are forced to trust the words of food stalls, which may or may not be true.

The world’s largest farm-to-table food traceability solution, TE-FOOD has entered into a strategic partnership with Islah Ventures and Penang International Halal Hub (PIHH) to provide traceability solutions in the Halal industry. Islah Ventures is a global leader of Halal Solutions Service Providers, while PIHH is a Penang State government agency. The agreement was signed on April 4 during the Malaysian International Halal Showcase (MIHS).

There are many steps of a food product from the farm to the shelves of a grocery store, and each step has to be monitored and verified to be halal compliant. If the integrity of halal compliance fails in any step, the product cannot be considered as Halal.

TE-FOOD’s solution can provide the needed tools consumers need to verify that the food they are eating is safe and conform to set standards.
